Stormy seas: 25 killed in Manila boat disaster

Webdesk: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) confirmed that at least 25 passengers drowned after a vessel overturned off Manila in heavy winds. Rescue attempts continue.

Disaster official Neil Ferrer told DZRH radio that they have rescued 40 people and are searching for six more.

A PCG video shows the coast guard retrieving a body of a woman without a life vest from turbulent waters.

Moreover, The PCG stated the boat capsized off Binangonan after heavy gusts forced passengers to fear and migrate to one side.

Manila is two hours from beachfront Binangonan.

While, Typhoon Doksuri slammed Luzon, the Philippines’ most populous island, with gusts of excess to 175 km/h (108 miles/h).

While, After Doksuri left the Philippines, some ferries and boats sailed on Thursday.
