In a harrowing incident near Quetta’s Qambrani Road, a young girl and her cousin were shot dead by the girl’s father in the name of so-called honour.
According to police, the girl had contacted her family on Eid and was reportedly told that she and her cousin would be forgiven and welcomed back. However, upon their return, the father opened fire, killing both instantly. The victims were aged between 18 and 20.
The accused fled the scene immediately after the murders. Police have launched a search operation and are conducting raids to arrest him. The bodies have been shifted to a hospital for legal formalities.
This latest incident highlights the continued menace of honour killings in Pakistan, where outdated notions of “family honour” still cost young lives, especially those of women.
