Webdesk: Donald Trump, a former US president, called the accusation against him “rigged” on Tuesday. He is being charged with racketeering in an election case in Georgia.
Trump called the indictment against him a “witch hunt” in a post on his personal social media account, Truth Social. Which was shortly after he arrested for the fourth time on Monday.
He kept criticising the indictment by bringing up a document that, according to the BBC, showed up on the Fulton County court’s website earlier today and listed indictments against Trump before the claims made public.
Trump wrote in his Truth Social post, “What about those indictment papers that released today. Long before the grand jury even voted, and then quickly taken back? Sounds like a trick to me!”
He seems to be saying that the charges against him are based on politics. He adds, “Why didn’t they indict me 2.5 years ago?” Because they wanted to do it right when I was running for office.”
In the 2020 election subversion case, a grand jury in Georgia charged the Republican candidate for 2024 for the fourth time on Tuesday.
On January 2, 2021, a recording of a phone call between Donald Trump and Brad Raffensperger, Georgia’s secretary of state, leaked. In it, Trump asked Raffensperger to “find 11,870 votes,” which led a 26-person group to start looking into the matter.
The News said that prosecutors in Georgia have started telling the jury about their proof. The jury will then decide whether or not to charge Trump.
The jury also said that Rudy Giuliani, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, and South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham, all of whom knew the three-time accused, were witnesses to the event.
