Islamabad: People are getting ready for the holy month of Ramadan as the month of Shaban nears its end.
Since the Islamic calendar is based on the moon, people in Pakistan want to know when the first Roza (fast) will be.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmon says that a meeting to look at the moon during Ramadan will take place on March 22.
“The main meeting to find the moon of Ramadan will be held on Wednesday, March 22 (which is the 29th of Shaban) after the Asr prayer at Provincial Auqaf Peshawar. Chairman Maulana Syed Abdul Khabir Azad will lead the meeting “In a statement, the ministry said.
“Other zonal committees will meet at their own places, like the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Kohsar Block, Islamabad,” the document said.
If the moon seen on March 22, the first Roza will on March 23. If this doesn’t happen, the Holy Month of Ramadan will start on March 24.
But the ministry says that Abdul Khabir Azad, who is the head of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, will make the final decision about where to look for the crescent.
