KHAR, BAJAUR: A Tali man was jailed for posting a hoax about a British woman visiting Salarzai Tehsil in Bajaur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to see her Pakistani buddy.

“For the love of Mohammad Ishaq from Salarzai, Bajaur, a British woman named Ella reached Salarzai,” Mohammad Gulab posted.

He also included a photo of his pal Mohammad Ishaq and a random foreign woman.

The police arrived to protect the foreigner after seeing the post. But there was no British woman and it was bogus news. So Gulab arrested.

KP police claimed the Bajaur district police officer had apprehended the social media user who posted the bogus post. Gulab also charged with cybercrime.

Pakistani law punishes social media misinformation, according to authorities.

Since Indian woman Anju, now Fatima, married her Facebook buddy in Upper Dir, three similar stories of Westerners meeting and marrying their Pakistani acquaintances have surfaced.

Four international women landed in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in a month to reunited with men they met online.

A senior police official told Geo News that 49-year-old Rosa from Mexico arrived in Pakistan on June 17 with full papers to marry 18-year-old Izaz Ali from Buner, KP.

Nicola, 36, from Chile married Ikramulah, 27, from Charsadda, KP.

A Chinese woman arrived Lower Dir last week after falling in love with a Pakistani resident on social media.
