Washington (International News) – Former U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed strong anger towards Russian President Vladimir Putin, warning that if Russia obstructs his efforts to broker a ceasefire in Ukraine, he will impose an additional tariff of 25% to 50% on Russian oil.
According to U.S. broadcaster NBC, Trump stated that if a ceasefire is not achieved within a month, stringent economic sanctions will be enforced. He further emphasized that any country purchasing oil from Russia would be barred from conducting business in the United States.
The conflict escalated further when President Putin proposed placing Ukraine under an interim administration and holding new elections there. In response, Trump issued a stern warning, stating that if Russia hinders efforts to end the bloodshed, the U.S. will take severe action.
Trump also revealed that he intends to speak with Putin this week. He acknowledged that Putin is aware of his anger but added that if the Russian leader makes the right decisions, his frustration will subside quickly.
This statement comes at a time when Trump, during his election campaign, has repeatedly criticized the war in Ukraine as foolish and vowed to bring it to an end swiftly.4o
