Karachi: Both Pakistani players have reached the quarterfinals of the first-ever World Under-23 Squash Championship. In the men’s event, which is taking place at the DA Creek Club with a prize pool of $60,000, the two Pakistani players won their second-round matches on Monday without losing a single game, easily winning 3-0. Seeded 2 and World No. 67, Noor Zaman defeated Poland’s Jakub Petlo Wani, while the second Pakistani player, Seed 5 Muhammad Hamza Khan, triumphed over England’s Will Salter to secure a spot in the quarterfinals. It is noteworthy that all three Pakistani women players in the championship were eliminated in the first round. Maryam Malik, Amna Fayaz, and Sana Bahadur lost their matches and were knocked out of the event. The quarterfinals will take place on Tuesday, and the finals are scheduled for April 10.
