Pakistan Observes Kashmir Solidarity Day with Renewed Commitment

Islamabad – The entire nation of Pakistan is observing the Kashmir Solidarity Day today with a renewed commitment to support the just struggle of Kashmiris for their right to self-determination as stated in the relevant United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions. The government and people of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir observe this day every year to express their solidarity with the Kashmiri people, renew their love and affection, and reiterate their commitment to the liberation of the occupied valley from Indian control.

Rallies, demonstrations, and human chains will be held across the country by people from all walks of life including politicians, doctors, lawyers, social activists, students and others to infuse new spirits in the Kashmiris who have been fighting for freedom. All Pakistani missions abroad will also organize seminars and photo exhibitions to draw the world’s attention towards the worst forms of subjugation and human rights violations committed by India in Indian-held Kashmir.

The national media will air special programs and print special supplements to highlight the significance of Kashmir Solidarity Day and the decades-long struggle of the Kashmiri people against the illegal Indian occupation. Banners highlighting the plight of innocent Kashmiris will be displayed across the country, including airports, railway stations, and national highways.

The observance of this day aims to highlight the long-standing unsettled dispute of Jammu and Kashmir internationally and to inform the people of Jammu and Kashmir that they are not alone in their hour of trial and turmoil, as the people of Pakistan and Kashmir stand wholeheartedly with them.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said in his message for the Kashmir Solidarity Day that India is mistaken if it believes it can crush the iron will of the Kashmiri people. He urged India to honor its commitments to Pakistan, the UN, and above all, to the Kashmiri people. He added that on behalf of the entire Pakistani nation, he wants to assure the Kashmiri brothers and sisters that they stand shoulder to shoulder with them and will continue to lend moral, diplomatic, and political support until they attain freedom from Indian oppression.

The Prime Minister also said that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute is one of the oldest, unresolved items on the agenda of the United Nations and India has continued its illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir for over 75 years, suppressing its people. Thousands of Kashmiris have sacrificed their lives and suffered countless atrocities at the hands of the Indian occupation forces. The situation took a turn for the worst following India’s illegal and unilateral actions of August 5, 2019, which have been rejected by Pakistan and the Kashmiris.

Pakistan commemorates this day to reaffirm its unwavering support to the Kashmiris in their just struggle.
