Islamabad: According to Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar Pakistan is about to sign an agreement with International Monetary Fund. He acknowledged that Pakistan had taken longer than anticipated to complete the ninth review of the EFF of the IMF.
“We look to be quite close to completing the staff level agreement hopefully in the next few days,”. Dar said in his remarks during a seminar sponsored by the Finance Ministry.
The finance minister acknowledged that Islamabad’s completion of the next ninth review has taken longer than it should have. He noted his experience with completing 12 reviews of Pakistan’s “one and only” IMF program.
Dar stated, “I believe we owe it to this nation to demonstrate our sincerity, our ability to deliver on our obligations, and our ability to show the world that we can uphold our pledges regardless of who made them. Additionally, he gave his team’s “totally committed” assurance that they will do everything in their power to finish the programme.
