Webdesk: The Indian Army misfired three missiles during an exercise at the Pokharan ranges in Rajasthan alarming nearby residents.
India Today claimed that three surface-to-air missiles misfired at the Pokhran firing exercise.
The missiles exploded in fields in several communities, but no one hurt or property damaged.
Technical issues during the drill caused the misfire.
Defence spokeswoman Lt Col Amitabh Sharma told India Today that an investigation has begun and additional action would be taken.
The report says two of the misfired missiles’ debris found, but the third has not. Police and Army teams are searching for the rocket.
The Indian Army was firing when three missiles with a range of 10-25 miles deviated due to a glitch.
The misfired rocket left a massive crater in the field.
Last August, the Indian government fired three officials for accidentally firing a missile into Pakistan. Which the nuclear-armed adversaries handled calmly as there were no casualties.
The Indian Air Force stated that three officers’ violation from Standard Operating Procedures caused the missile’s inadvertent launch.
Pakistan asked New Delhi about safety measures after the BrahMos missile, a nuclear-capable land-attack cruise missile built by Russia and India, fired on March 9.
The Pakistan Foreign Office summoned the Indian envoy to protest the unprovoked violation of its airspace, calling such “irresponsible incidents” a sign of India’s “disregard for air safety and callousness towards regional peace and stability”.
