KARACHI: In anticipation of cyclone Biparjoy, the Sindh government began evacuating coastal Badin residents on Monday.
As tropical storm Biparjoy approaches the Arabian Sea, the Sindh authorities evacuated residential areas and other human populations.
After advancing north over the past 12 hours, the Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm (ESCS) is 600km south of Karachi. 580km south of Thatta, and 710km southeast of Ormara.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Local Bodies Minister Nasir Shah, and Chief Secretary Sohail Rajput visited Shah Bandar.
The chief minister reviewed Biparjoy mitigation plans in the coastal zone after the visit.
The Hyderabad commissioner informed the CM that at least 2,000 people from Shah Bandar’s island have evacuated from Badin’s zero-point village Bhagra Memon.
50,000 people from Shah Bandar, Jati, and Keti Bandar will be evacuated.
The chief minister advised that Biparjoy will hit Sindh’s coast on June 15 but will weaken by June 17–18.
Moreover, He stated that the storm’s wavelength will climb to 4–5 meters, causing saltwater to surge.
While, A meeting led by Karachi Commissioner Iqbal Memon on Sunday decided to evacuate districts ahead of the cyclonic storm.
Moreover, Sindh Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz and other officials attended the meeting.
The PDMA has ordered to implement the evacuation plan by tomorrow , when the storm expected to approach the coast.
Baba Bhit, Mubarak Village, Ibrahim Hydri Village, harbor, and other low-lying coastal settlements evacuated.
The conference ordered the Keamari, Malir, South, and Korangi deputy commissioners to evacuate all people by the deadline and move them to safe places or relief camps.
