Modi will face furious Lok Sabha discussion for Manipur silence

New Dehli: Local media stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will grilled in the Lok Sabha today (Tuesday). Its over his silence on the horrific unrest in Manipur.

Congress politician Gaurav Gogoi started the no-confidence argument against the BJP government.

A central minister protested that senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had opened the debate.

Gandhi, Modi’s top opponent, returned to Lok Sabha on Monday after the Supreme Court overturned his 2019 “Modi surname case” criminal defamation conviction.

The freshly formed Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A) moved a no-confidence resolution last month. Which the Lok Sabha debated till Thursday.

On August 10, Prime Minister Narendra will respond to the heated controversy.

Moreover, To push PM Modi to address the Manipur violence, the 26 opposition parties’ alliance I.N.D.I.A filed a no-confidence resolution against the BJP-led government on July 26, nearly four days after the Monsoon Session began in Parliament.

While, Modi, whose Hindu nationalist BJP governs the northeastern state, has been silent on what has “come close to a civil war” there.

He not commented on the worst ethnic violence ever seen in the small state of 3.2 million until last week, when videos of two women paraded naked and assaulted by a mob in Manipur sparked national anger.

Modi called the mob assault “shameful” and pledged harsh punishment.

Opposition parties delayed parliament’s monsoon session last week to seek a thorough Manipur statement from Modi.

No-confidence motions evaluate government accountability.

Moreover, According to Hindustan Times, an MP can initiate a no-confidence vote if they believe the administration lacks support.

This resolution can only initiated in India’s lower house, Lok Sabha, with at least 50 MPs’ support.
