Webdesk: Fans were sad about Steve Harwell’s death after a spokesperson for the former Smash Mouth singer said he died at the age of 56.
BillBoard says that the musician died on Monday at his home in Boise, Idaho. He had been in hospice care for a while.
The article said that Harwell was identified with cardiomyopathy, a disease of the heart muscle that can make it hard for the heart to pump blood to the rest of the body, several years ago.
Harwell was the lead singer for the California pop-rock band until 2021, when he said he was leaving the band.
“Steve Harwell died at his home in Boise, Idaho, this morning, September 4, 2023. He died quietly and comfortably while surrounded by family and friends, according to a statement from Smash Mouth manager Robert Hayes.
“Steve Harwell was one of a kind in America. A person who was bigger than life and rose into the air like a Roman light. Steve should be known for how hard he worked and how passionately he wanted to become a pop star. And the fact that he did all of this with very little musical training makes his achievements even more impressive,” the statement says.
“His successes are even more impressive because he reached this nearly impossible goal with very little musical training. His only tools were his unstoppable charisma and charm, his fearless desire, and his big balls. Steve lived his life at full speed. Before going out, they burned brightly all over the universe. So long, Heevo Veev. Rest in peace knowing you shot for the stars and magically hit the mark.”
